Church and Family
Brooklyn Park is a diverse community and we try to mirror that. We have growing populations from both Laos and West Africa, as well as folks with Dutch, Scandinavian and German roots.
Our Savior’s Church was begun by the Classis of Minnesota (local RCA churches). We began worshiping in 1968 at the elementary school across the road from the present building. The church celebrated 50 years of
ministry in 2019.
Through those years, it has had only four installed pastors:
* Rev. Berend Vande Woude (1968-1974)
* Rev. Forrest Harms (1976-1989)
* Rev. Leon Fikse (1991-1995)
* Rev. Lori Walber (1996-present)
In 2019 we added two lay pastors:
* Pastor Chan Sythavongsa
* Pastor Tom Chanthavongsa
